Weight loss is at the top of mind for so many people, and rightfully so. Nearly 1 in 3 adults (30.7%) are overweight. More than 1 in 3 men (34.1%) and more than 1 in 4 women (27.5%) are overweight. More than 2 in 5 adults (42.4%) have obesity (including severe obesity).
Even more scary are the statistics for children. According to the Annie E. Casey Foundation's KIDS COUNT® Data Center, 33% of youth between the ages of 10 and 17 in the US are overweight or obese, as of 2020–2021. This is an increase of 2 percentage points from five years earlier. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) says that obesity is a leading chronic disease among children and affects 14.4 million children and teens nationwide.
